Landscaping and Furniture

Since the last blog we have been busy with the design and implementation of the landscape and obtaining some of the desired furniture.

Let’s begin with the landscaping. The finished landscape took a week to complete and was well worth it. It certainly provides the finishing touch to the home, and it was completed in time for the home’s appearance as part of the Parade of Homes later this month. We are in the process of completing the lighting.

The next several photos are shots of the landscape in the front of the house. As you can see the plantings are young; by the spring they will be much larger, boy I cannot wait to see that!

Now you can see the pebble garden area which will have a wrought iron bench at the end of the stepping stones. We will certainly enjoy sitting there enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the late afternoon and taking in the beautiful mountains.

The small tree planted next to the pebble garden is a white dogwood. This was given to me in honor of my Mother who passed in January by a women’s organization that I serve on the international board and have been a member for the past 13 years. Next spring it will bloom as beautiful as was my Mother and keep an eye on the place. There are two large boulders to the right of the pebble garden. There are actually at the end of the driveway and were part of the original landscape. They will be included in the lighting project.

Next we wanted to landscape the area around the brick mailbox as seen in these two photos.

Along the side of the house facing the street are clusters of plantings that include several varieties of shrubs and also at the end of the driveway in front of the garage.

Next let’s take a look inside the house in the Great Room. We finally found the perfect couch! It blends in beautifully and the semi circle works perfectly. You can sit and see the TV, watch the fireplace and see the beautiful views outside. You can see the table in front of the couch and there are matching end and sofa tables. The slate squares that are on top of the tables look very much like the floor tile and the fireplace stone. Looking from the catwalk on the second floor toward the fireplace you can see the artwork that we found. It is a contemporary piece in brushed nickel that brings out the look of the fireplace. Gives it a “pop”.

So you can see that we are coming along. It has been a labor of love and we will continue to keep you posted.

                 Enjoy!
