At Last!

Yes, the home is finished and the keys are ours!

The past week has been hectic to say the least, last Friday we packed up the moving truck and two vehicles. Saturday morning we left Orlando packed to the gills and with Miss Z our dog we headed for the mountains. We arrived early evening and opened the front door to our beautiful home. We noticed as we approached the front door that it appeared different somehow. With further inspection we realized that our builder surprised us with a new casing handcrafted for us. As you can see from the photo, it is exactly what was needed to create a magnificent entrance. We were so moved that she had done this for us. Mary thanks!, Miss Z is very eager to see her new digs.

We brought items to help us manage until Monday when the furniture arrived as well as a cooler of necessary food and drink. The inflatable bed worked great and we easily fell to sleep for some much needed zzzzz’s. You can see Tim is being watched over by Miss Z.

Sunday morning we awoke to the beautiful views of the mountains and valleys. We have dreamed of waking up to them and finally there we were. The views simply take your breath away! Every window has a view and there is only one room in the home that does not have a window and that is the exercise room off of our office. So you can imagine how open, light, and airy the place is.

Sunday afternoon was the Open House for everyone who helped build the house along with their families. We served BBQ pulled pork and the fixings along with refreshments provided by Riverside Smokers. Everyone enjoyed seeing the final product as many have never done so. One special treat was having a number of families building the home including fathers/sons, mother/son, and husbands/ wives. We took pictures and showcased them during the Open House. A reporter from the Mountaineer came and will be doing a story. The day was so delightful! Click here to view the Mountaineer article.

Tim, Z and I sitting on the hearth enjoying the Open House. Next is a photo of Joseph, his wife and son signing the piece of tile as a keepsake. Next is a photo of our builder Mary Stewart along with Tim and me.

Monday morning at 8:30am the moving truck arrived and Miss Z had to lend a helping hand, ha! Furniture and boxes kept coming and coming. At one point Tim asked if there was anything left in Orlando. After the movers left at noon, we looked at each other and I would have greatly appreciated the ability to wiggle my nose and have everything put in its place! Of course that did not happen. We began the process of unpacking the boxes and finding spots for everything. Funny you put something somewhere and then cannot remember where you put it and search endlessly for it. I wasted time doing that quite a bit. But it is getting better with each passing day.

Let’s take a look inside the house. A glimpse of the niches in the master foyer, the fireplace, and Tim’s toy, the plasma TV.

Next are several photos of the master suite and bath.

Here is a shot of the kitchen looking from the dining and great room, the dining room and the collection room.

Next is the copper wire guestroom and bath, we have named them after the paint color.

Then here is the Lagoon guestroom and bath.

Now upstairs to our office and a view from one of the three windows.

Last is the garage and we caught a glimpse of the garbage truck as he was leaving after picking up trash.

At last….our dream has become a reality. As you can see there is still much to do in decorating the house which is the fun part!
