We have CO!

Friday June 5th was a great day in the process of building our NC Mountain home; we received the CO or Certificate of Occupancy. We now have electricity, water, air and heat! Now we are working on the punch list which is the last items to be finished. I thought I would provide you with several photos that showcase the finished product.

Let’s start with the view from the deck. The mountains are similar to the ocean to me. Each day and almost each time you look at either, they have changed. It is amazing and beautiful!

As you remember there is tile in the master foyer and then runs throughout the kitchen, collection room, laundry room and hallway to the garage. The wood floors run throughout the great room and dining room. Separately the tile and wood is what we refer to as the river. This “river” was created by hand with 2” slender long pieces of the tile on both sides of the canal and then small pieces of all sizes filled it. It really presents a great interesting look.

The next photo shows the view from the end of the dining room back into the great room. You can see how spacious it is and the beautiful wood floors.

Facing across from the dining room is the kitchen. This photo is shot from the sink looking out to the great room. You can see how open it is. From the French doors closest to the left side of the photo you can go onto the screened deck. This will be one of our favorite places as we are already seeing. The fireplace will allow us the opportunity to sit outside long into the fall season.

Just down the hall from the kitchen and dining heading toward the garage is the collection room. There will be a desk placed against the wall which will collect mail, keys etc. From the collection room you see the staircase up to the office which is located above the garage.

Across from the collection room is the laundry room and exit door to the front of the house. We will use this exit to take Miss Z, our dog out for her walks.

We are really eager to see what areas of the house Miss Z will find to be her own. Here she is in the backyard in Orlando.

Now let’s head upstairs which hold the beautiful sconces. We saw them turned on for the fist time this past trip and oh my, are they a piece of art.

From the catwalk which separates the two guestrooms, the next photo shows the view from the catwalk towards the fireplace.

The next two photos show the guest bathrooms; one is for the “copper wire” bedroom and the other is for the “lagoon” bedroom. We refer to them as their colors. The “copper wire” is the beautiful terracotta look and the “lagoon” is the deep teal color.

You are now up to date on the mountain home. The next update will be our moving in and there will be a lot of activity to share with you. I hope you have enjoyed the journey of the building of the NC Mountain home as much as we have enjoyed bringing it to you.

                Until next time,
