We are ready to embark on a journey that I have not experienced ... building a house!

We are ready to embark on a journey that I have not experienced…building a house. My husband tells me it will be enjoyable and that we will still be married at the end. I have a lot of faith in him so I agreed. Go figure!

That hole looks awfully deep and solid doesn’t it? This photo represents the deck footing for the house and some are deeper than these.

Now it is starting to look like a house with the foundation poured and the framing of the walls being lifted up to the sky. By the way, the house is on the top of a mountain ridge and there is no one above or below us…and the views just keep going and going….

As you can see much as happened and the house is starting to take shape. This view is from the road that is in front of the house.

The middle roof is being constructed and will rise into the sky 28 ft, which should be some view! We learned that because we are on the top of the ridge, even though only 3500 feet, the inspector required a wind wall. That window of glass will stand up to 150 mile an hour winds… I hope I am not there to experience that!

The chimney is being raised and will be a
two sided glass arrangement. It will be covered
with stone both in and outside.

It is now starting to get cold and as you see from this photo, snow is on the roof and deck. The deck will certainly be a great place to gather and enjoy company.

Out in front they are beginning to pour the footings for the front porch. Don’t you just love those octagon windows?

Stay tuned, more to come and enjoy the holidays!
